Healthy Eating

Healthy Eating Sessions

Here at Dingle Lane we want nothing but the best for your children. This is why we have come up with our unique Healthy Eating Sessions for you and your children to enjoy. We aim to promote healthy eating by allowing your children to eat naturally healthy foods in a fun and exciting way.

Healthy Start

The national Healthy Start Scheme is means tested (through benefit entitlement) and provides vouchers for fruit , veg , milk and vitamins to registered and eligible parents. The vitamins (tablets for women, drop for children up to age 5 years) are provided by Health Centres and Children's Centres on presentation of a voucher.

Whilst this will continue, due to low levels of Vitamin D (low sunlight exposure levels), Liverpool CCG, LCH and Liverpool City Council Public Health are working together to provide these vitamins free for:

  • All children from 8 weeks to 2 years of age
  • All new mothers up to 1 years post - delivery

 For further information go to

Free Milk

To encourage all children to drink heralthy milk, we now have available, after all our sessions, free milk for your child to take away and drink. Just ask at reception, or collect one from the couter (while stocks last each day)

Get Healthy and Active

Get Healthy and Active will provide a welcoming environment where children will learn how to make healthy snacks, be creative and take part in physical activities.

Parents and carers will also gain knowledge in the importance of healthy eating.

If you wish to attend, please contact the Children’s Centre on 0151 233 4930

Snack right events

Over the last few years we have run a number of Snack Right Events throughout the year, which aim to encourage healthy eating. We have run two recent events, but at this time no further dates have been arranged for 2014. Look out for any further dates to come, when you could come along, try some different fruits, and have some fun and eat healthier at the same time.

 Love Food Hate Waste

Did you know that a third of the food you buy will end up in the bin! These costs add up, over a month the average family throws away £50 of food shopping, that’s a lot of food and money! Pick up some handy tips on how to: Store food properly, how to cook the right amount of food, perfect portion sizes, and how to save time and money. We have previously  run a Love Food Hate Waste course here at Dingle Lane and are happy to give any advice. If you are interested please contact the children centre team.
