Are you interested in finding work?

Are you interested in work or training but you're worried about childcare or how it might affect your income? At Dingle Lane Children Centre have always tried to liaise closely with New Deal Personal Advisors and the local Job Centre. We are now pleased to announce that through European Social Funding we can help provide training, equipment, travel costs, work clothes and equipment to help support you or a family member back into work or training.

Free bikes for work or training.

You maybe able to qualify for a free bike, equipment and training from the Travel Wise free bike scheme. To qualify you need to be currently unemployed and not participating in any work programme in the last 4 weeks. You must live in Merseyside, be over 16 and have recently accepted a job offer of at least 16 hours a week, which is for a period of at least 4 weeks, or be accepted on a training course, which is for a period of at least 4 weeks at 16 hours per week.

Liverpool Childcare and Family Information Service (CAFIS)

This service provides free information on registered childcare provision in the area. CAFIS is also working with Job Centre Plus to support people who want to go back into work or training. A new programme of support includes childcare chats to explain the different options available to you.

Paediatric first aid

Do you want to learn a range of emergency techniques that you can use in a first aid situation in relation to your child


Following on from our successful courses over the last couple of years, we have arranged further dates for 2016. This is an accredited course and will help you to learn a range of techniques that you can use in a first aid situation.  As usual you will need to book your place as numbers are limited.   

Positive parenting

Do you want to stay cool, calm and in control, and become a more positive and relaxed parent. If so, we are planning once again to run a Positive Parenting course in conjunction with Family Learning in 2016. This is a 9 week course . Our Family Matters

The course explores why our families matter so much to us, looking at what a family is, what being a parent means and the pressures all families face. We will have a limited creche available. We will roll this course out again in 2016. For further details contact the centre team.

Prepare2work

This is a course consisting of all the vital ingredients you need to be successful in seking out and applying for employment. It will look at completing application forms, help with interview techniquies, how to write a CV, how to improve your job prospects and how to job search. This will be a 6 week course,  between 1.00-3.00pm. A limited creche will also be available.

Citizens Advice Bureau

Do you need financial advice or support. If so we could link you into our local CAB advisors. Are you having problems paying your gas or electricity bills.Don't struggle with fuel bills, you may be able to get help. Toxteth CAB fuel poverty team can give free, confidential and impartial advice. You can contact them on 280 5781 or speak to a member of the children centre team.

We can also offer one hour bookable sessions with an advisor you can help with the following:

  • Benefits and tax credits
  • Budgeting and money matters
  • Borrowing and mortgages
  • Pensions and retirement
  • Insurance
  • Savings and Investments
  • Tax - all aspects of being self employed


Numeracy or literacy

Do you need support with reading, writing or numbers, if so we could link you into local organisations to help you and improve your reading and writing. Just ask any of the children centre team.
